Compare and Contrast

The two images below are of the same flower, only from two different angles.

What a difference! The first image is a standard picture of a flower in a garden. It has a little impact, the fence on the right gives depth, but it is otherwise normal and forgettable. The second image, on the right, however, captures a completely different aspect of the flower. Here, the flower is tall, alone rising above the others in it's effort to reach the sun. The backlighting adds a dramatic effect.

It's surprising the difference a little angle can make.

  1. Great job! Flowers are tough to photograph because we always strive to find a way to make them different than the way everyone else sees them. You did a great job with that!

  2. I like in the right picture the transparency of the leaves of the flower. It shows the solid parts of the flower better, and makes it stand out.

This is a gorgeous compare and contrast and a good example of coming at a subject from a different perspective!! The lighting aspect pretty cool...
