I don't like it.

Yup. I'm morally opposed to this Picasa software. Why? Because it totally made me feel like a fool. I'd been putting these collages together in Photoshop, tediously placing the images in just the right spot, sizing, resizing, testing, fading... And then I get this program, drop the folder in and VIOLA! It does this:

Two minutes and it creates a collage like that. It took me hours to create this one:

And, while they're not exactly the same, the effect is pretty close. Come on now!

OK, all sarcasm aside, this is a great program! I love the viewer that it uses, it's quick, and it comes with these great editing options. This is going to make my life a whole lot easier.

Compare and Contrast

The two images below are of the same flower, only from two different angles.

What a difference! The first image is a standard picture of a flower in a garden. It has a little impact, the fence on the right gives depth, but it is otherwise normal and forgettable. The second image, on the right, however, captures a completely different aspect of the flower. Here, the flower is tall, alone rising above the others in it's effort to reach the sun. The backlighting adds a dramatic effect.

It's surprising the difference a little angle can make.

Minds Eye Images

It all started two semesters ago as a project for my webcoding class. Create a website as your final project. The process brought me down a road that I never really anticipated, rediscovering talents that I didn't remember having. I all culminated with the creation of a beautiful website full of composited and retouched images and a desire to continue creating these works. The site can now be viewed at SosImagesOnline.com.

I have a new site in the works, something that showcases the website design aspects, but I plan to use this one again in the future to show off the image manipulations I can achieve. For now, I'll plod along with this blog for this new class and see what else happens to arise.
